Since the dawn of Christianity, the Gospel has been the ideal of hundreds of men and women in the East who abandoned everything and followed Christ out of love for Him to live thoroughly the Gospel that has become a way of life for them.

Monks and nuns living in the cities, or on its outskirts, were totally dedicated to God and at the service of the Church, following the Syriac spirituality; action and contemplation complemented one another through the love of God, love of men and women and service of mankind.
